City Location
The two cities are counted as one small metro area. This area is also included in a larger area known as the Mountain Empire or the Tri Cities. The other Tri Cities are Kingsport and Johnson City tn.
They are located in the Tennessee Valley to the north of the Blue Ridge range and to the south of the Clinch Mountains.
Jobs
Many jobs are generated by the tourist industry. For example, a major NASCAR track is located within the metro area. This of course gives rise to many restaurants and hotels which cater race fans. In addition, the city has a few factories as well as medical and retail industries.
Transportation
The Bristol area lies right on I-81. It also lies at the fork of 11-E and 11-W. These two major highways join in Bristol tn to form simply highway 11. Another major road is 421.
Other Interesting Facts
Bristol is known as the “Birthplace of Country Music”. Even though Nashville tn is said to be it’s center, the birthplace has been traced to the area.
